wow...i suck at updating. as amina would say, i've been a busy little swan - thanks for all the patience from everyone waiting on sets and proofs. lot of travelling, lot of shooting...thanks to everyone who has offered locations and floor space, bought or had drinks with us, held shit, carried shit...and a big thanks go to all the girls i have worked with on these trips - y'all really do make my gig a joy. thanks to EVERYONE who left comments and kind words on my photography - i really have a great time doing this and i'm glad to see y'all like my work. i couldn't do it without everyone's help.
(dang, after that - i feel like i just won an award and i'm sure the background music is about to come up and cut me off...)
i did get to shoot a friend's wedding in FL...that was fun:
speaking of weddings - i would like to send my congraduations to 2 of my favorite people - fractal and nak on their recent wedding...very very bummed that morgan and i couldn't make it.
on to the sets...
Twinkie-pounds of petals
- first of all - twinkie chan is as charming in real life as she is on the nets.
- there are 4 dozen roses being used in this set...poor twinkie had to shuck them.
- the table was acutally less in price than the candles.
cristabelle-brighton rockstar
- HA! brighton mass!, not brighton england
- yes, that sexy red 98 granprix gtp in the parking lot is my 4 wheel manpurse
- to say that cris' closet is deep is an understandment. i suggested a winter theme...and things started to appear - fuzzy boots, earmuffs, those rockin' gloves...yay!
roane-camero
- there is a tribute to sg addie in this set (mainly cuz it worked out and we were shooting a multi with those 2 right after this set)
- roane showed up with that bug! i was soooo excited! very bummed that she returned it to the costume shop the next day. but...what am i talking about? if i showed up at my house with that - my bug-hating wife would beat me until i (and it) would stop moving. better it went away.
mallereigh-trick
- this was shot durning my daytrip to vancouver - yes, i drove 3 hours from seattle at 6am, met up with mal, had coffee, shot truffles, caught back up with mal, shot 2 sets, dumped all the images so mal could do her prep magic and then drove 3 hours back seattle...long but great day.
- shot in the basement of mal's favorite bar in vancouver. that space is really as creepy as it looks. it was an old speakeasy and there is a dog-fighting pit, huge bar and just junk around...IT WAS GREAT!
- the set is nowhere near as dark as it appears when we shot - you can see the overlight lights on in several frames. high shutter speed pretty much killed the background lights to give it that hella-creepy feeling.
- i had the honor of having the bad-ass linds being the bestest lightstand ever, she held and positioned the bad-ass backlight for this. she followed mal around the set and made sure she had back/sidelight.
- speaking of lightstands - i think i left one there - if anyone is crawling around a creepy bar basement in downtown van and sees my black bogen 5 section mini-stand, pls let me know. bwhahahaha!
- thanks for dinner mal!
Granny vs Madeleine-creep cafe
- ha! i knew i forgot one. thx granny for pointing this out.
- shot on the sunday after suicide saturday in providence
- to say that granny was hungover is a huge understatement...in the time it took her to do her makeup, anteros and i dressed the set, dressed owen (the waiter), lit the set, made coffee, watched a big chunk of "V for Vendetta", discovered the cure for the common cold, started a school for gifted young mutants and formed a band.
- that kitchen was decorated and belongs to a single straight man...go figure. love it, best looking location i have prob. ever shot in (with the exception of abevigoda's house)
- the concept was already in place but the diner feel was conceived pretty much the minute we walked in and saw how bad-ass the kitchen was...granny wanted to shoot in the living room with 2 stuffed ram's heads. this would involve moving and disassembling a man's Home Theater/XBOX system and not for nothing, i don't mess with another man's entertainment center. needless to say, that crazy jibberjabber was squashed and granny was talked off the living room as a location ledge.
- for those of y'all who went to the suicide saturday afterparty, yes - same place.
gotta run...many more adventures to have and pictures to take...yay!
