so the night eventuated at a friend's house, hunched in fierce competition over a game of scrabble.

it was the last round; brows were furrowed & amygdalas were fully adrenalized. all i had left on my tray were two o's, two h's, and the amazing foreplay sequence of 'q' 'u' 'i', which left me in a frothing, slightly euphoric mess. yes, dropping a 'q' word in scrabble is akin to coitus for me.*

perfect, i thought, i just noticed the opportunity! someone had just lain done an uninspired, 'to'!

'Quito', the capital of ecuador! i'll get 10pts for dropping the 'q' bomb, and triple that because of a 'triple word word' square. i spilled my tray over, and arranged 'quito'! hurray, a 50-something point bonus. i win!

not so fast...the q fell outside the play of the board. i hadn't noticed it would run over. it did, and i finished third. i crumbled into the carpet and became a squealing fantod.

*one day dropping 'quotidian' being the moment in my life i have become self-actualized and lambent, and therefore snuff myself to stay forever young and immortalized in time - i.e. - the insect in amber.
