I'm the most lax updater in the history of lax updaters. Not that anybody actually pays attention to what I write anyway, but still, I feel the need to apologize for my lack of updating for what feels like years. So, what has happened in the past...however long it's been? Let's see.
I got a new job. I'm now a student scanning assistant in the purchasing department at KU. What does that mean? It means I sit scanning documents into the computer for 8 hours a day for 8.50/hour. Not a tough job and it pays the rent and will work with my schedule come fall, so fucking A, I'm a lucky man.
I almost died in a fire. This is what a journalism student would call burying the lead. Back on April 28th, I think the date was, I was taking an early evening nap in my apartment and was startled awake by the sound of my smoke detectors going off. My first thought was "Did I leave the fucking oven on?" since I was planning on making a pizza when I woke up. However, after wandering out into my hallway and noticing a significant amount of black smoke coming from outside the door of my 3rd floor apartment, I realized that I was in a bit of a pickle. I walked out on my balcony(walked isn't the right term since I destroyed the screen that I forgot to open), and shouted down to the cop below me for help.
Now, at this point the officer is kind enough to tell me that the apartment directly below me is on fire. Then he asks if I can climb down...onto the balcony of the apartment that is on fire. I tell him I'd rather try the stairs and charged down them...well, not actually charged down them...more like I opened my door, couldn't see or breathe because of the smoke and was yanked down the stairs by a rather large fireman. Long story, short(I know, too late), all my shit had smoke damage, but the fire was contained to the apartment below me. And my cat was ok, which was a very real concern of mine as I sat outside staring up at my apartment.
Other than that, I've been busy with school work and not dating. I'm really good at both of these tricks.
This Saturday I get to break in my Ministerial credentials as I am performing my first wedding ceremony. The Atheist Minister strikes again...except it's the first time so whatever.
