image: white boy drivin' through the maryland back roads in a miata, bumpin' sir mix-a-lot's baby got back...
heard some interesting opinions today... and i don't think one guy stopped talking during the entire time that he was there at the beach house... (4+ hours)...
his most interesting arguments:
- two objects of the same mass are dropped simultaneously... they fall at the same rate. connect those two objects so that they essentially become one object (and doubling the mass)... and he said they'll also fall at the same rate as when they were unconnected... (can anybody explain this to me if this is true?)...
- that their church organization is "progressively liberal" because they have a man of "ethnic" decent as a major leader...
- that he has come to accept same-sex marriages and call them marriages because the etymology of marriage goes back to a contract... and that marriages, as they exist now, have only been around since the 50s... but that same-sex marriages are acceptable because it's just like signing a contract for a job... (though he's still not sure that homosexuality is "right")...
i went between wanting to argue with him... to wanting to leave...
in the end, i just figured he liked hearing his own voice (very likely), and didn't really care about what it was he was saying... as long as he was saying something that sounded intelligent (which, funnily enough, didn't really ever happen)...
i love people.
