Had the random thought to do some gardening today. Gardening. wtf?? Since when did I think about gardening???
Had an interesting conversation about authorship and where that line is between plagarism and creativity. For example, I took a photograph of a camas lily that, in the end, turned out pretty... well... interesting. The thing is, it looks very similar to a lot of other photographs of camas lilies... the point? More of a question: If I take a picture that looks very similar to, if not exactly the same as another photograph... should I get credit as being the author?
And so on...
Oh, and apparently, I'm a closet mathematician. Who knew?

were you inspired by other photographers to take the photo?
did you have the photo in mind when you took yours?
is the question then in fact is inspiration plagarism??
and if so....well i am fucked as an artist....cause i am inspired by so many artists...
i remember once in a creative writing and poetry class my prof. told me....in order to write well....you must read the work of others...
an entire project that we did was to read poems by authors who had been inspired by other authors....many gave credit....many did not...but once you knew which poem that they had drawm inspiration from it was clear....
i suppose with a photo it is different...and although a photo can be very similar 2 photos will never be exactly the same...
in fact the other day when we were taking photos at the glass museum and i took the one of the glass ceiling remmeber me commenting "i wonder how many people have taken the exact same photo?" well.....funny thing is....i was in pdx in the camera shop picking up film about a week later and some people in the back had a computer on and were discussing a photo on the desktop...i peeked over their shoulders...and behold...it was the glass ceiling....
so whats my point you ask?
i dunno....did i ever really have one??
