Recently @missy and @rambo asked us to share our favourite things about fall, and without a doubt mine is the cooler weather. As a Canadian now living in Atlanta, the summers are just a little too hot for me. I love floating around a pool with a good book and a beer in hand, but unless you're in a pool, it's pretty much miserable to be outside during the hottest months of the year.
The last few weeks have been absolutely wonderful though! Because as the fall weather approaches it means I can get back to some of my favourite activities, including hiking, park lounging, and The Great Decatur Craft Beer Festival!
I've already done some wonderful hiking this fall, including a day trip to the north Georgia mountains, and a visit to a newly discovered trail, Dolls Head Trail. It's crazy and creepy and wonderful. It's a short trail filled with creepy folk art of baby doll parts and other strange pieces found amongst the rubble of a torn down brick factory. Here's a few gems found along the trail.
I'm also a girl that loves a good picnic day, so I'm absolutely ready to be laying on a blanket reading a book surrounded by the beautiful colours of fall.
While some girls get excited about the pumpkin spice latte, the return of Southern Tiers Pumpking beer is what truly gets my heart racing. And speaking of beer, every October is The Decatur Craft Beer Festival. I've gone every year since I turned 21 and it's always one of my favourite days of the year, here's a bunch of us at last years fest.
Well most states celebrate pride in July, in Atlanta they celebrate it in October, it's actually this coming weekend! I love love love attending with all my LGBTQ brothers and sisters, watching the parade, enjoying the weather, strolling through booths, and of course closing the whole night out with the wonderful performances at Starlight Cabaret!
Obviously, carving pumpkins, getting dressed up for Halloween, all the apple cider, and crunchy leaves everywhere are also wonderful things about fall. But my favourite thing is being able to sleep with my windows open instead of my air conditioning blasting, and knowing that the humidity of summer is finally gone, until next year of course.
What are some of your favourite things about fall, or fall activities? What's everyone dressing up as for Halloween??
And I'll leave you all with one last hiking photo.
Also! Only two more week until my new set drops! Can't wait to share it with you all!
