It's been about two weeks since my last blog, which isn't a long time, but longer than I prefer to go between my posts. So I've got a few things to catch everyone up on. But first, I want to talk about last weeks blog topic assigned by @rambo @missy @lyxzen and @charmaine .. The idea was to talk about something that made you feel good this week. Well, I saw that was the topic and there was something made me very good last week, I just didn't get a chance to sit in front of my computer and write it down, so here we go..
About three months ago I went rock climbing for my very first time, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Since that first time I have been going once(when I'm lucky twice) a week with a good friend. He and I got belay certified and got all our gear and have just been having so much fun. We have yet to climb outside, since we are both beginners we figured we should get some good practice in an area with nice, forgiving, squishy floors. But now that we have both mastered all of the beginner routes and are now getting a good hang on(pun intended) the intermediate ones, we are looking for a good place to try a little outdoor climbing. About a month ago we also started trying out the bouldering routes set up in the gym, some of them were pretty easy, but this one route in particular continued to thwart me week after week. Well I'm proud to say, that last Monday I made that boulder route my bitch! Reaching the top and conquering that particularly troubling path really made me feel unstoppable. Being able to have a physical marker of the work I was putting in week after week really felt great, and I rode that high for the rest of the week!
If any of you guys and gals have any tips or tricks, or know of really awesome places in GA to climb outdoors please let me know! I'm really excited to continue my progress and one day climb right over a goddamn mountain! Yeah bitch mountains!
Alright.. so in some really exciting news, two of my most favourite ladies have sets in Member Review that you best be checking out right meow!
My sweet, sexy, beer loving, cat petting, Slytherin baby @roggen in her beautiful new set Amethyste shot by @sobelle. I was lucky enough to witness this magical set in the making back in April during Hell City Columbus. It came out better than I even could have imagined. Roggen is such a sweet girl and Sobelle is a dream photographer, they really created a stunning set together.
The second set you guys need to rub your eyes all over is of my favourite little newly pink princess miss @effy in Desert Rose shot by @alissa. This set is such a dream, the lighting is gorgeous, and Effy is as flawless as always. Alissa's work is constantly on point, and Effy's unique beauty really shines in this set. Plus as a lover of the American Southwest, the location of this set is just divine.
One of the reason I have been a little occupied the last two weeks is because I was attending Music Midtown here in Atlanta. When I was in high school it was a really big deal, each radio station had it's own stage so the festival would pull in a huge variety of music. It ran from 1994-2005 and was recently revived in a much smaller way in 2011. This was the first year I have attended since it's comeback, and although the location and variety of acts were much smaller, I still had a fantastic time. Memories of smoking joints and watching Bob Dylan preform came flooding back to me. It was held in Piedmont Park, so it was close enough to home for me to walk to(always a huge plus) and the friends and weather were superb. I didn't really take any pictures, sorry about that, but here's who I saw.. Friday- Banks(so amazing!!) - Iggy Azalea - Lorde - Jack White Saturday- Third Eye Blind(who made me really sad because they didn't play How's it Gonna Be) - Fitz and the Tantrums - Lana Del Ray - Bastille(one of my favourite shows of the weekend) - Eminem(who was kinda disappointing, but I'm not really an Eminem fan anyways so I didn't mind really) But yes, it was a wonderfully fun weekend.
Last night my boyfriend was robbed at gun point. He is my heart and soul and I am so overwhelmed with relief that he was only robbed of things and not his life. People are crazy, and I can't imagine how scary it would be to have a gun pointed at your head, you have no idea the amount of desperation or irrational thinking this person may or may not have. I don't even know how I would begin to move in any direction without him. Some people really fucking suck, but I am thankful he is okay. I couldn't stop hugging him last night when he came home and told me about everything that had happened.
Alright, since I don't want to end this blog on a low note, here is one last thing that happened to me this week that is the opposite of the aforementioned story. If you didn't know this about me, I have been without a car for a little over two years now. I've never been a driver really, I didn't get my learners permit until I was 19 and I didn't get my license until I was 21. I bought my first car at 23(almost 24) and I've really only owned that car until two years ago when someone hit me and total it. It was a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and I loved that car like nothing else. It was so old, and with so many little quirks. It had been very well maintained for it's whole life and when I bought it, it only had 11,000 miles on it, which is insanely crazy low for a car from 1988. It was the most awesome spaceship of a car ever, and it would have lasted me a really long time if some dick bag hadn't decided to turn left when I was in the lane right next to him. Anyways, this was supposed to be a happy story. Okay, okay, so my very best friend Nicole recently graduated collage and got her first big girl job at the beginning of this year. She decided it was time to buy a new car, since she could now afford monthly payments. A few years ago she was gifted a 1998 Acura and because she is such an amazing human being, she decided to keep the 'pay it forward' idea going and has now gifted the car to me! I was in disbelief on Sunday night when my boyfriend came to pick me up from work and pulled up driving my best friends car. When I asked him what he was doing he got out, put the keys in my hand, and smiling he said, 'it's your new ride baby. From Nikki.' It was just surreal. She is the most amazing creature I have ever met on this planet, and her whole family has been there for my countless times in so many different ways. I'm so lucky to know them all. So naturally, the first place I drove my new car to was my favourite taco place!
And if you haven't already, don't forget to check out my newest set DIANA shot by @michaelmae at the beginning of this year. It's my favourite set I've done so far, so let me know what you think!!
In light of all that has happened over the course of this week, I leave you with one of my favourite Vonnegut quotes..
