Hello hello cats and kittens! Hope you are all just having the most superb day possible. I've been a little out of it the last few days, but today I am feeling back to my regular silly self. On Wednesday my work celebrated their 40th birthday with an insane celebration. I work at a fabulously delicious pizza place that opened here in Atlanta in 1974, and now has a ton of restaurants throughout the US(mostly East Coast), called Mellow Mushroom! Maybe you've heard of us before, maybe you've eaten our tasty pie before, like I said, they can now be found in cities all over the US. Anyways, as I mentioned, we celebrated our 40th birthday on Wednesday by rolling back our prices to 1974. That means we were offering $2.50 small cheese pizzas, .30 cents for Coke products, and .75 cents for Budweiser, PBR, and Michelob. So you can see why we were crazy busy, oh and I work behind the bar, so insanely busy for me. I worked from 12pm-11:30pm and was just dead by the time I got home at midnight. It's been a long long time since I've worked a day that long, but man was it fun. My favourite thing about working in a restaurant is how a shift like that really brings everyone together. As soon as the last customer staggered out the door my manager whipped out a bottle of Fireball and poured us all celebratory shots. We made it, and we did fucking awesome. No serious mess ups, no blow ups, no fights. And every one of us wore the biggest smile as we toasted to a night that only comes once in 40 years, thankfully. As we all started doing our check outs and realizing how much money we had raked in over the day, one server blasted some music and I poured us all some beers. Right before we all left, we ripped down all the decorations in this sort of primal celebratory act. It was glorious.
So yeah, I was basically dead all day Thursday and Friday. but today I finally woke up feeling rejuvenated! Also! I'd like to share this little outtake from my set DIANA which is in MR now! Thanks to everyone that has been so utterly sweet, and if you haven't checked it out please let me know what you think.
Also also! Since I'm on the subject of food, I believe last week @missy and @rambo assigned the blog topic Your Guilty Pleasure!
Mine would be sweets! ALL THE SWEETS!!!!
I have the worst sweet tooth, and no self control when around them. I wake up craving doughnuts pretty much everyday of my life. And ice cream is something I want after every single meal, no matter how full I am. I want all the cupcakes of the world! Ice cream cake is basically the best invention ever. I mean ICE CREAM IN A FUCKING CAKE! Yeah, I'm sold. I love caramel and chocolate together, it's probably one of my favourites. But I also love me some mint and chocolate. There is a little chocolate shop near my house and I have to limit the amount of times I even enter the shop. It's impossible not to buy something, well, lots of somethings. They make these dark chocolate covered pretzels which are drizzled with mint chocolate, yeah they're like little bits of heaven in your mouth. They also serve homemade ice cream, and it is the absolute best! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. mmmmmmm... Oh oh and Sublime Doughnuts in Atlanta will cut a doughnut in half and put a scoop of ice cream in the middle, holy shit, it's amazing. Doughnut and ice cream in one bite!? Yeah that is definitely the absolute best!
I also have a strong strong love of tacos, but I don't considered that a guilty pleasure really since you need food to survive, where as sweets are not so much a necessity. But tacos and ice cream filled doughnuts are the way to this girls heart.
Here's another image from DIANA that I really love. @michaelmae did such an amazing job with this set, I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out.
