Turns out my updated profile picture was rejected.
Unfortunate, I suppose. I fail to see what was wrong with that picture, but I understand that it isn't up to me. I'm trying to get Picnic to help me pick a new one, under the assumption that something chosen by him will have a much higher chance of being accepted.
The SG community is a sort of anomaly when it comes to places where there's intelligence to be found - were I to go to SomethingAwful and post pictures of myself with every post, I'd probably be banned, but at least so ridiculed that banning would be merciful release. There are kids on Gaia Online who go into General Discussion and make these bullshit excuses for discussions and post five pictures of their either fat and cat-ear headband equipped, corpulent masses, or their emaciated nerd-bodies. You know what happens to those threads? I put them in the Chatterbox. That sort of thing is only half-tolerated on Livejournal, which is not a fine, upstanding cornerstone of the community, rather, it is quite the den of attention whores.
Yet here, people (usually) seem to manage to come off as fairly intelligent, yet seem to be pleased when people post plenty of pictures of themselves. It's a little confusing. I feel a little bad when I post pictures of myself, but alternately, just a little freer.
I don't feel like searching through my pictures folder for a real picture of me.
Enjoy this delightful self-portrait.
