Get The Honey, Junior
As morbid as it sounds
It's an interesting thing
Watching someone eat themselves to death
Watching them shovel it in
Day after day
Turning down potatoes with their omlettes before double fisting bagels while sneak eating by the bathroom or even worse, in the bathroom
Ordering fries as a side instead of getting them as a part of a "deluxe" burger because, well, you get more fries
Ordering breakfast and lunch:
What drives them to come to work
What breaks up the snacking
If you watch long enough
You can see the weight changes
You can watch the neck disappear
Get swallowed by the chins
Shirts become untucked
Pants lose seems
Track pants
Sweats
Chef pants are introduced
Clothes go from loose fitting
To snug
To tight
Before a new wardrobe is introduced
All loud patterns
To hide the ripples
To hide the sweat puddles
Keep shoveling it in
I'm intrigued
Is there maximum density?
Is there a breaking point?
Isn't anyone dropping hints?
Making jokes about gravity
The equator
Sweating gravy
Guess not
And, no
It's not my place to say anything
So I'll just sit and watch
Keep shoveling it in
Something will give one of these days
Whether its your heart, your knees, or your chair
I know I know
It's a sickness
An addiction like everything
And
Like any other addiction
I'd rather not watch
But like any car wreck or a dog taking a shit
I can't turn away
