I love it because my grandma usually cook this when I was a kid πππ It is a cooked japanese rice, shaped as a ball, seasoned with just a little bit of mixture of mild seasonings such as salt, sugar, mirin, rice vinegar and sometimes Ajinomoto, culinary sake; often wrapped in a sheet of nori (Japanese seaweed). It can be stuffed with umeboshi (salted Japanese plum preserves), fish or other meats and condiments. I made this traditional one, mixing the rice with furikake (a very tasty Japanese seasoning) before shaping it, and I also tried grilling it with a dash of miso with sesame oil (miso is a fermented soybean paste) this was my favorite and it was much more incredible and delicious than I imagine π
