When I first heard who was nominated as the new Pope , I wasn't paying very close attention to the guy's last name . They said Ratzinger , but I heard Ratzenberger . I was like , "They nominated Cliff Claven from Cheers ? " What the hell????? All hail Pope Cliffy!!!!! Then I heard his REAL name and felt a little foolish . Last night on The Daily Show , Dennis Miller said the same thing . Since I consider Dennis Miller to be a pretty smart guy , I no longer feel quite so dumb . 
Another thing that I don't get about the whole Pope picking process ( Try saying THAT three times really fast
) , why do they change their name to an "official" Pope name ? Why couldn't it just be Pope Chuck the first , or Pope Art the second , or whatever ? NOOOOOOO...it's gotta' be Benedict the Six Thousandth or some crazy-ass thing . Silly Pontiffs , alias names are for criminals and celebrities . As long as you're going with an alias name , you should have picked something cooler , like...I don't know...Pope Carlos The Freakin' Awsome . Now THAT is an impressive alias .
