I went to se Hostel tonight . 
WOW . I take back most of the mean things that I said about modern horror movies being all sissified and not stacking up to the classic 80's slasher flicks . Although I wouldn't classify the movie as a scary movie , it has all of the nudity and gore that you can shake a severed limb at . It actually is a well made movie too . Eli Roth did a pretty spectacular job of setting the mood and developing the characters and plot . My hat's off to you Mr. Roth . You've given me back my faith that modern film makers CAN still deliver a decent movie in modern Hollywood .
On an added note , I'd like to add a few new lessons to my last journal's "Lessons That I Learned From Horror Movies " theme .
1 - NEVER go to a strange town or country and mock the locals . This will inevitably wind up coming back to chainsaw you in the ass . Yes...inbred hicks and people with funny accents are ripe for ridicule , but keep the funny to yourself and you'll live longer .
2 - When confronted with certain death at the hands of a maniac , DON'T beg and plead for your life . This is like ringing a dinner bell for a hungry dog . They like to hear you whimper . Instead I suggest mercilessly criticizing them and/or making fun of them . "What? You're going to kill me with THAT rusty old machete? Why don't you try going through your victim's pockets sometime and getting some cash to buy a REAL machete . What a piece of crap . " or " Ohhhh...you went with a hockey mask , huh ? Don't you think that a mask may hinder your peripheral vision and allow you to lose sight of moving victims ? What's that over there ? Ooooops...I'm gone . I disappeared . Can't see me in that stupid-ass mask now , can 'ya? You're the WORST serial killer EVER!!!! " Sure you'll probably still die , but not before hurting the killer's feelings and possibly causing some lasting self esteem issues . SCORE!!!!
