Tonight was a weird night. I went to the two parrots pub downtown. My bf wasn't feeling up to going out so he stayed home in his pj's. As soon as I walked into the pub, the bouncer asked how things were going with my boyfriend. "Heh?" I replied. "Oh, you don't remember. You came in here last weekend all upset because your boyfriend got into a fight with a bouncer." He replied. "Oh, yeah, sorry about that. I was drunk and crazy, and I didn't mean to broadcast my problems to the entire bar." I said. I hop up on a bar stool and order a pint. The bartender asks me "Did you get your credit card cancelled? You left it here last weekend" "Yeah, I got it figured out, don't worry about it. Just give me a beer" I reply.
So I sat and nursed my beer while reading the unabridged journals of sylvia plath. Sometimes it's nice to read in a place other than home. I welcome the background noise. So I'm sitting there ignoring everyone when this guy comes up to me and starts hitting on me. I politely tell him to fuck off and go back to my book. I then notice that every male in the bar is watching me intently. This instantly brings my paranoia back. I just want to read undisturbed in a bar, is that too much to ask? So I pay my tab and leave.
I stop in at a donair place on the way home. Suddenly I hear my last name being shouted out. I look around and see no one I recognise. A couple of teens come up to me. "Hey, you're Todd's sister, aren't you?" they ask. "Umm. Yeah, how did you know?" I reply. "You look like the female version of your brother" they say. Yeah, thanks. Piss off!
Walking back along davie street these two gay guys stop me and insist that I walk with them. Let me tell you, I love gay guys. They constantly complimented my hair, shoes, clothing, make up, etc...
It was a nice feeling.

P.S. - straight guys love to compliment girls randomly too.
I bet half the guys at the bar were trying to think of a good pickup line. However, men at bars don't know how to pick up attractive girls who read books.
