Aha!! whoooop!! Two paintings of the Three I took are in for the show starting on monday, they'll be in for 6weeks unless they sell - One's in at 495 and the other at 995 which is crazy. I'll be happy if they don't sell, ecstatic if I make a couple of quid to pay for some new canvasses and will do a lap of the town butt nekkid if they fetch that sort of money!!
I went part time in my day job in January to try and push this career, to do something everyday that I'm proud to do and I love doing, I gave myself a timetable that I wouldn't expect anything success wise before July so this is wicked. It's only a small step but I'm actually pleased with it, which for me is boardering on miraculous!!
It's certainly focussed my mind on my work and the time I spend on it, I'm looking forward to what I can do next. Though the downside is I have to do a "meet the artist" day in the gallery which fills me with a mix of dread and panic!! I don't enjoy selling myself and can also come across as a cold sarcastic twat!! It's not true (honest!) I just don't always stop talking quite when I should!!
I've been doing a course in stained glass construction which I've just finished after 6months, the piece I did was based on an abstract nude I sketched aaages ago...
Overall I'm pleased with it, some grey areas and the photo doesn't show up the different textured clear glass I used but you get the idea. Not sure I will take it any further, was fun learning something new but there's a side to it that calls for a patient and methodical approach which I don't have...too often I contemplated tossing it at the nearest wall for me to be let loose with something of any importance!!
Also...I have decided to cut my trip down a little and save some cash (which is tight ) and to actually relax and enjoy my time away. Paris will be for 7-10 days (just about to book it up so not quite sure yet) And I think I will go straight to Rome after - I will go to either Florence or Venice for a couple of days then back to Rome to travel back. Nice, compact and cheap. I can't be bothered with all the options and the stress of a massive travelling expedition right now. This past year has been non stop, every week involves a large amount of work, loads of hours painting and researching, travelling to my handicapped bro's for visits and helping my mum with stuff she can no longer do - and hopefully all this will increase on my return....so I'm going to go, sit and enjoy watching and sketching the busy peoples world go by!!!sweet!! If I can learn to sit and smile then the whole trip will be worth it.
that's enough for now....
