It is that time of month again. It is time to pull out the old hug count meter and write up a hug blog.
Just to let y'all know that this year I have set a goal to get 250 hugs. I made that goal based on the 2009 hug count, which was 191. I though I could make up 59 hug through the year. There were a lot of missed opportunities I thought.
This year, I have to admit there have been a couple of missed opportunities for hugs. They were mostly with people that I wouldn't normally hug, like co-workers or people that respect their space. This however doesn't seem to bother me as I have 61 hugs this year so far.
I am impressed with myself. Granted it is most are from friends that are hugging me just to increase the count, which I am all for. There have also been some out of the ways in there too so I am proud of myself to push my boundaries.
As such I am going to spoiler for the descriptions of the hugs as there are 61 of them and I am sure you don't want to scroll through them all.

Hug 1: January 1, 12 AM-ish: Female, mid thirties
The first hug of the year. Like last year it happened on New Years day right after midnight. I was playing Munchkin with some friends that night. The Ice Queen was there and she got the first hug of the year. Which is funny because I rarely see her any more.
Hug 2: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Female, late twenties
So, the games were over and everyone was getting tired, thus it was time to go home. I got a hug from Pixie. This hug was good, she rubbed my back. It seems she is a rubber when it come to hugs.
Hug 3: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Male, 23
The next in line to get hugs was Rod. He was reluctant at first, but he caved in.
Hug 4: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Female, late twenties
The next in the line was Kenny. She doesn't like to be touched so this is a great honour to hug her.
Hug 5: Janaury 1, 1:30AM-ish: Male, 28
The next in line was Crushinator. This year he told me we wasn't going to crush people with hugs anymore. We shall see if he keeps his word.
Hug 6: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Male, unknown but I would guess late twenties
The is the first hug that I went out of my way to get. I would not hug people I just met that night unless they initiated the hug. This year, it is different. Kenny brought her ex-boyfriend, which I will name Spenny, over to Pixie and Rod's place to play Munchkin with us. She said that he had nowhere else to go that night, but the hosts didn't like the idea for letting someone they don't know into their house uninvited. I didn't mind the guy, I understand that being along on this night is not a good thing, I have done it like 4 or 5 time in the past. Anyway, I just met the guy and I offered him a hug and he took it. He said he doesn't normally hug people he just met too, so it was a new experience for us both.
Hug 7: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Male, early forties
This hug comes from a long time friend but first occurrence on the list. I will call him True Blood, because he likes vampires and stuff. Anyways, got a hug from the guy for the first time, but I had to offer him it. He accepted.
Hug 8: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Male, 28
I got another hug from Pixie on the way to the door. This wasn't as long as the one previous, but there was still a rub. Pixie get the award for first to get two hugs this year.
Hug 9: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Female, mid thirties
I was already out the door on the front porch where I confronted Ice Queen for not giving me good-bye hug yet. She did so on the frozen front porch.
Hug 10: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Female, mid thirties
For forgetting to give me a good bye hug, Ice Queen gave me another right after the first.
Hug 11: January 1, 1:30AM-ish: Female, mid thirties; Male, 28
Ice Queen also gave me another hug, but in the process of it, Crushinator also came in to get hug us too. So a three way hug. Ice Queen and Crushinator get a three-way medal.
Hug 12: January 6, 7PM-ish: Female, mid thirties
At the beginning of 2010, I thought I would need more opportunities to get hugs from people. As such, in the SGCanWest group I was going to start up a weekly meet up for people in Calgary. This way, maybe I could get out the award for the first hug to an active SG member. I say active because I have hugged people that were no longer with the site. Last year, this award was not given out. This year, I hope I could.
So the first meet up didn't go so well as nobody showed. The odd thing was, Crushinator did showed up at about 6:30 or so. I had a good chat with him about what was going on in his life. Then Ice Queen showed up. I got a hug from the Ice Queen when she showed.
Even though no SG members showed, I still got hugs, which is kind of weird in my mind.
Hug 13: January 6, 7:45PM-ish: Female, mid thirties
When Ice Queen and Crushinator were leaving, I thought I would call it a night too. I got a hug from the Ice Queen.

Crushinator got a big hug.
Hug 15: January 9, 6PM-ish: Male, 28
Went over to Ice Queen's palace for another game night. When I got there Crushinator had to let me in because Ice Queen was over at her cousin's place with Pixie playing with a pussy... err... I mean cat. When I got my jacket off, I gave Crushinator a hug.
Hug 16: January 9, 6PM-ish: Female, mid thirties
Ice Queen came back to her place and when she did I got it was hug time.
Hug 17: January 9, 6:30PM-ish: Female, late twenties
Soon after Pixie came back to the Ice Palace, and hugs were exchanged.
Hug 18: January 9, 11PM-ish: Female, late twenties
It was late and Pixie was tired. She was going to go home to visit dreamland. Before she did, she told us that she and Rod got engaged. I am totally happy for those two.
Anywho, I gave her a hug of congratulations.

Shortly after the congratulations hug, it was time for the so long hug.

After playing some more Munchkin, everyone wanted to get some sleep that night. I got a first good-bye hug from the Ice Queen.

I then got a hug from Crushinator.

Next was Kenny.

After that was True Blood.

I have to admit I don't know who got this hug. I have tried playing the sequence of events in my head, but I can't remember. I am going to give it to Ice Queen as she is the most likely of people that would have given me the hug.

So, it was another SGCanWest meet up. I got to the meet up location and started reading my book. Not five minutes later, Crushinator showed up. He had one really bad day. I listened as he retold the story of how his shoes fell apart through his day. When it was time for him to leave to meet up with Ice Queen and Flash, I got a hug from him. as he left But he left his bag behind. He came back 10 minutes later to pick it up. He was really having a bad day.
Hug 26: January 13, 7PM-ish: Female, mid thirties
This one needs a story. So, I was sitting with redd3vil because he was the only other person to show up to the SGCanWest meet up. We just finished a conversation when he noticed Ice Queen at the cash register. I turned and noticed it was her. I let redd3vil talk about her. He made fun of her skirt and complimented her hair. After about 30 seconds of this, I excused myself and went and gave Ice Queen a hug. She was surprised to see me. I then went back to sit with redd3vil.

I was still at the meet up location and Ice Queen and Crushinator were still there. I was getting tired and said my so-longs to redd3vil. I went over and talked to Ice Queen and Crushinator. I got a hug from Ice Queen first.

I went to tea with the dark kids. I didn't get any when everyone was leaving that night. I walked with Nerdstar to the train as he was going in that direction. We got on the train and started talking. Some drunken kid, which I will call random drunken person #1 or RDP1, from across the isle started talking with us. When it was time for Nerdstar to get off the train I got a hug from him. I was sitting down he was standing up, so it was awkward in position as Nerdstar is really tall, but a good hug none the less.
Hug 30: January 15, 11PM-ish: Male, best guess would say no more than twenty.
As Nerdstar was getting off the train, RDP1 asked why he didn't get a hug. Nerdstar said he just met the guy. That is when I offered to give the RDP1 a hug. So, I did. He was sitting down and I was standing up. Awkward because of the position. I guess this means I am officially a hug slut. *Achievement unlocked* Hugging a total stranger.
Later on the ride, RDP1 asked for my phone to call his girlfriend. I am a good guy and let him. Then his girlfriend called my phone to talk to RDP1. He used it one more time after that. Just something to note.
Hug 31: January 16, 10AM-ish: Female, age withheld
It was that time of month where I go over to my parent's place to do laundry. When I got there I got a hug from my mother.

My dad was up too and I got a hug from him. Just something to note, my dad hugs really firm. It is not Crushinator back breaking hug, but it if firmer than any other hugger I have had in the past year. Just something I observed.

I got a hug from my mommy when I left my parent's place. My parent's were not there all day so I didn't get to see them that much, but I did have dinner with them and watched a couple of movies.

After chatting with IQ and Crush, IQ had to go to work. Upon leaving, I got a hug from the Ice Queen and ...

I was having tea with the dark kids again this week. I was the only one there for about an hour, I wish others would show up before 8, but whatever. When Disstress got there, I gave her a hug.

Crushinator also showed up. He got there before Disstress did, but I didn't get to hug him until he came back with his tea.

E.v. Showed up as well. When she got there, I got a hug from her. I was sitting down and she came of from behind.

E.v. gave me another hug after the first one. Disstress then made a comment about how there should be a hug counter above me hug. Everytime I get a hug, there should be a ding sound and the number should increase. Funny she mentioned that, because recently when I see other people hugging, I make that sound in my head.

Ice Queen showed up to dark kids' tea. When she did, I got a hug from her.

Ice Queen had to go do some stuff with Pixie's cake as it was Pixie's b-day the next day. When IQ left, she gave everyone a hug, like usually, and of course I got one too.

Crushinator was leaving with IQ, and thus I there was another hug with Crushinator.

Everyone was tired. Disstress gave me a hug during the good-byes. Ding.

It was Pixie's 30th b-day party. What better way to celebrate your 30th than with Munchkin, cookies and cake that ate a cake. I got there at the same time as IQ and Crushinator. IQ gave Rod a hug first then went around giving non-birthday hugs to people, then a birthday hug to Pixie. I got one of the non-birthday hugs.
Hug 49: January 23, 6PM-ish: Male, 23
I had not seen Rod since I heard about his engagement to Pixie. So I gave him hug hello.

I then gave Rod a hug congratulating him on his engagement. *Achievement unlocked* 50 hugs in one month.

Pixie then came over and got a hello hug from me. A quick one.

Pixie then got a birthday hug from me. This one was longer and had some back rubbing from both side of the hug.

Crushinator got a hug once I got my jacket off and into the kitchen to store some food and drink. During this hug I wrapped my leg around him and started to hump him too.

It was a fun night. There was cake and Munchkin and talks about an orgy in the office and Kenny while wrapped in a blanket asking why she was left out of the orgy and good times and many laughs. At some point during one of the munchkin games, I did something to insult Crushinator. After I did, I said was sorry, that I loved him and hugged him as he was sitting next to me. He just sat there and took it. Good times.

I hugged Crushinator again in his chair because he didn't respond to the first hug at all.

Hug 48: January 23, 6PM-ish: Female, mid thirties
It was Pixie's 30th b-day party. What better way to celebrate your 30th than with Munchkin, cookies and cake that ate a cake. I got there at the same time as IQ and Crushinator. IQ gave Rod a hug first then went around giving non-birthday hugs to people, then a birthday hug to Pixie. I got one of the non-birthday hugs.
Hug 49: January 23, 6PM-ish: Male, 23
I had not seen Rod since I heard about his engagement to Pixie. So I gave him hug hello.
Hug 50: January 23, 6PM-ish: Male,23
I then gave Rod a hug congratulating him on his engagement. *Achievement unlocked* 50 hugs in one month.
Hug 51: January 23, 6PM-ish: Female, 30
Pixie then came over and got a hello hug from me. A quick one.
Hug 52: January 23, 6PM-ish: Female, 30
Pixie then got a birthday hug from me. This one was longer and had some back rubbing from both side of the hug.
Hug 53: January 23, 6PM-ish: Male, 28
Crushinator got a hug once I got my jacket off and into the kitchen to store some food and drink. During this hug I wrapped my leg around him and started to hump him too.
Hug 54: January 23, 11PM-ish: Male, 28
It was a fun night. There was cake and Munchkin and talks about an orgy in the office and Kenny while wrapped in a blanket asking why she was left out of the orgy and good times and many laughs. At some point during one of the munchkin games, I did something to insult Crushinator. After I did, I said was sorry, that I loved him and hugged him as he was sitting next to me. He just sat there and took it. Good times.
Hug 55: January 23, 11PM-ish: Male, 28
I hugged Crushinator again in his chair because he didn't respond to the first hug at all.
Hug 56: January 23, 11PM-ish: Male, 23
Rod was pretty tired, as he woke up at 6AM that morning. During the gave I think I did something to insult him too. I said I was sorry, told him I loved him and gave him a hug as he too was sitting next to me. He just sat there and took it because he was too tired to do anything else. Good times.
Hug 57: January 23, 11PM-ish: Female, 27
We were getting kicked out by the b-day girl because she was getting tired. On long the way, I got a hug from Kenny.
Hug 58: January 23, 11PM-ish: Male, early forties
I also got a hug from True Blood.
Hug 59: January 23, 11PM-ish: Female, 30
Got a good-bye hug from the b-day girl.
Hug 60: January 23, 11PM-ish: Male, 28
Got another hug from Crushinator.
Hug 61:
I got a hug from Ice Queen as we were all leaving Pixie and Rod's place.
189 until 2010 hug goal is reached.
This is close to the number of hugs I got in 2009 so, it will be interesting to see if I make it. I am on track to shatter the goal by May, but when summer hits, I get less hugs and that kind of trails into fall and late winter.
