End of the month, time for hug recap blog!
Hug 125: Aug 7, 9 PM-ish: Female, 21
I was at a BBQ hosted by Distress. During the gathering, E.V. called me a woman for not having a pop-cicle before dinner. I agreed with that fact. later in the evening as E.V. was leaving, I got a hug from her.
Hug 126: Aug 8, 1 AM-ish: Female, 21
As I was leaving the BBQ, Distress gave me a hug.
Hug 127: Aug 8, 1 AM-ish: Female, 31
After the hug from Distress, I was given a hug by DJ Jinx. I then went home.
Hug 128: Aug 22, 10 PM-ish: Female, early 30's
DJ Jinx was hosting a gathering of people at her place. She wanted her friends to meet the guy she is having a relationship with, and vice versa. I met him and he seems like a smart guy. The place was pretty warm so I spent most of my time by the open sliding door to the balcony. At some point the Ice Queen and the Crushinator showed up and wanted to leave because that place was way too bloody warm for them. I got a hug from the Ice Queen before she took off with the Crushinator.
Hug 129: Aug 23, 12:30 AM: Female, 31
I was getting tired at DJ Jinx's and as Distress and Nerdstar were leaving, I decide to as well. As I was leaving I got a hug from Jinx.
Hug 130: Aug 23, 12:33 AM: Male, 32
After walking down the stair of Jinx's apartment building, because the elevators in that place are questionably working, I walked with Distress and Nerdstar to Distress' minivan, as mine was parked in the same direction but was further. I gave a hug to Nerdstar.
Hug 131: Aug 23, 12:33 AM: Female, 21
I then gave a hug to Distress.
Hug 132: Aug 29, 7:30 PM: Female, 21
I was invited to a house warming party by a person, who will be named R.I.D., which is short for Redhead In Disguise. I don't know why she invited me as we haven't seen each other in well over a year, probably more.
I almost chickened out of going to the party. I was all phyched to go, but as I was about to leave, I got really scared. I don't know why I got scared. I sat on the step in my house by the front door just thinking over why I was so scared to go. Maybe it was because I didn't really know anyone there beside RID. It took me 45 minutes to get up the courage to get out, saying to myself, if things are going so well, you can come right back home. Nothing bad will happen to you. You need to do this, get out of your comfort zone, meet some new people. People that introduce you to other people who might overcome this social layer of teflon that you seem to be carrying with you and stick to you in some way.
Anyways, as soon as I got there and found her, R.I.D. gave me a hug.
Hug 133: Aug 29, 11:30 PM: Female, 21
As I was leaving the party because it looked like a bunch of people standing around a fire and a bunch of pot head sitting smoking vaporized weed, I thought it was time to leave. Some others like the Crushinator and Rod, who were also at the party, thought the same. As we left, I gave a hug to R.I.D.
Hug 134: Aug 31, 3:21 PM: Female, late 20's
It was Chuck's last day of work. Chuck has been sitting beside me for the past year at work. We found out that we went to the same High School and graduated in the same class, but do not remember each other for that. She taught me that after a period you are only suppose to be put one space, as it is a waste of time and memory to put two space after a period. Chuck is leaving for Prince George, BC to pursue a degree in Environmental Engineering. She was a good friend and I will miss her company at work. As I was leaving, I said my farewell and she stood up. She first gave me a hand shake, which was a bummer, because I thought I was going to get a hug. Then save gave me a hug. She will be missed. I will probably see her again when she gets back during her winter break.
Total hug count for August: 10
Total hug count: 134
Projected 2009 hug count: 201 (-11.57 from last month)
It looks like the recession isn't over yet as the project hug count has gone down again this month. At least it is still above 200, barely. We will see how the next month fairs.

I've been to other schools before, and I know TA's are supposed to be students, but I've never had another undergrad teach a lab before. Even at community college all my profs worked in their field (for the gov't, as private consultants, or as active researchers) and all had PHD's (except one, who was working on finishing his).
It seems so peculiar that the U of C "social sciences" faculty has lower standards than my community college.
