So, I just got home. And boy have I had a weird afternoon.
Coming home from the train station, I take my usual path. I am trying not to get my shoes wet because there is lots of puddles from the melted snow around. When this little boy and girl come up to me. The boy asks if I have a cell phone. I say sure and give him the phone. He calls his mother and tells her that they are lost. After talking for about a minute, the kid gives me the phone.
I start talking to the mother. She asks if I know where I am. Even though I walk this street everyday, I have no idea what it is called.I tell her that. I give a brief explanation about where we are relative to the train station. Then I stay and wait for someone to come find the kids, plus if the parent gets lost they can call me.
I am waiting and the kids start climbing this "tree", which was really more like a stick in the ground, and playing with the snow nearby. And I wait. The boy is talking to me about things and the girl shows me her pins that she has on her jacket. I try to act interested. I find out that this was their first day of school and that they seem to move around a lot, living in previously in Regina and Winnipeg.
At some point, the kids start a snowball fight with each other. Which results in the girl getting somewhat hurt. She gets kind of angry and starts to hit her brother. The brother just dodges or swats away the punch. It was almost like play fighting.
After about a half an hour, the mother calls me again. By this time, I got one of the kids to read what street we were on. I tell her that. And fifteen minute later a guy shows up and the kids run toward him. I assume he is the father or step-father as the kids called him by name and the mother called him hubby. I give him a salute and he thanks me. I then continue on my way home.

I'm pretty sure it's more of a de-volution. As opposed to getting better, it's worse
