Mud...mud...rain...and more mud..
Every inch of my body was caked in mud, in my ears, up my nose, everywhere. Blue Falls Grove was like running on a beach, the ground was so soft it felt like we were running in sand. But, damn it was fun.
Our first game was against White Horse, our 'A' side won that one easily. Our new players, rookies and 'B' siders didn't play that first game because that was the main bracket game.
The next two games were 'B' side games and I played anyway because I wanted to.
we lost both of those games but our rookies and new players are looking like they are going to be good. We have the rest of the spring and the summer to get our players good. I think I may actually take the summer layoff and take a bunch of players and get together touch rugby games once per week to keep us fresh and keep our legs going, because we know how most of us HATE to run on our own.
Back to the story... We lost the B games but that is no big deal. Those games are for the new players and the veterans to work on skills and learn the game even more...
Sunday's games were a wash. I missed Sunday because of car problems and my team was pissed. I was called a "jackass" by the captain because they needed me that day. I hated to miss those games but I had to get my car back on the road, and I did.
The first game Sunday our team won, I think it was against Brandywine. The championship game was against Lancaster, a VERY good team in our division. Lancaster only played one game on Sunday, against us, because their opponent, Syracuse, didn't show up therefore they won that game via forfeit.
It happens, especially with the weather being as shitty as it was....
Lancaster beat us to win our tournament, but our guys kept fighting hard even though we were shortmanned, tired and with some minor injuries.
