Well...I got a comment about Wing Bowl and asking what it is. Here goes.
It started 13 years ago in a hotel lobby with 2 men for a prize rubber chicken, it has since grown to a national following. For 13 years, the Friday before the Super Bowl had Philly host an all-u-can-eat wing contest.
To the present day...
Now, it is held in the Wachovia Center, where the Flyers and the Sixers play. It is free admission, the place fills up with people, "sold out" if you will and about 30 competitors from the eating world compete for prizes that include a new car and wing bowl championship rings. This year about 30,000 people had to get turned away because it was that crowded in the lines. So that means about 50,000 people plus went to the arena to watch fat men, skinny men and one Korean chick who eats like a freak compete. Did I mention that they have wingettes? 70 girls dress however they want to compete for a trip to Aruba. Needless to say, they sometimes get a wee bit frisky. >
Oh...all this is at 6AM. People get there the previous night to get ready...ie drink, tailgate, wait in line.
You have to see this to believe it.
