this spring has been wackadolla...
i think i've forgotten that we're at war. that it's stressful. that the world climate didn't always seem so dark. could it be i've gotten used to it?
i remember a few years ago, the biggest concern on every activists mind in SF was about the dot-com boom and it's effect on gentrification, housing costs, etc. it was the biggest issue we faced. willie brown (our mayor) was EVIL. willie brown is freekin angelic compared to our federal administration. i'll take willie anyday over the recent horrors of abu ghraib...
all i can think of lately, is how much we all live like royalty. i'm standing in the new 'whole foods' in downtown yesterday, and i'm overwhelmed by all the delicious organic options...anything i could possibly desire to eat, i could find here, right at my fingertips, affordable even on my income. and yet i still whine about this that and the other thing that makes me uncomfortable...but i drive a car (even if it's borrowed) and i have a great house with all the amenities (ok, so the heat's not the greatest, but...) and i'm healthy, and i can afford to keep a dog as a pet....and then i worry that my hair needs to be cut, or that i'm really sick of my wardrobe...oh poor me.
so i just heart achingly wish for those prisoners in abu ghraib to find some relief, even if it's only in their memory of better times, when they were with their family, and life wasn't so absolutely nightmarish. if you have a second today, maybe send a wish out to someone you know who could use it....
