so, when you kick the bucket, how do you want to do it?
reason i ask, is this...
couple days ago, rescued an american crow that was lying on the ground, flapping his wings. legs straight out like he was caught in something. 'cept he wasn't. picked him up gently (LOVE holding birds) and took him/her to the wildlife rescue hospital. i though perhaps he'd had a spinal injury, which would account for why he couldn't move his legs. well, called the next day, and i was right. he's paralyzed. so they're giving him a few days to see if he heals, but if not, he'll be put down. after i hung up the phone, i felt so sad for him...not that he'll die...i don't believe in accidental death. but for the way he'll go. stuck in a strange hospital environment for a week, then put down with an injection. and i wondered if i'd made a mistake...if i should have left him to die in his home...in the forest, eaten by a cat or coyote...something more honorable, and in the cycle.
so how do you want to go? in a blaze of glory? quietly? in a hospital? in a horrible sudden accident? do you want to know, or never know what hit you?

yeah, it's still nasty and hot here, but every now and then i feel fall peakng around the corner. it's still a month or two away, but every now and then there's just something in the wind or in how the sky looks. or in the trees, like they're collecting into themselves already. i can't wait!
