My dog just ate a whole bag of Hershey Kisses with almonds--foil wrappers and all. I am a little worried. He is acting fine at the moment, and I know he has ingested worse things before. But damn, it was a WHOLE bag. Oh and it's not the chocolate I am worried about--it's the foil. Milk chocolate isn't fatal to dogs (well maybe if he ate like 75oz). It's BAKING chocolate, powdered cocoa, and cocoa mulch that can be most detrimental to their health.
Chocolate's toxicity to animals is directly related to three factors: the type of chocolate, the size of the animal, and the amount of chocolate ingested. Unsweetened baking chocolate presents the greatest danger to pets because it contains the highest amount of theobromine, approximately 390-450 mg. per ounce. White chocolate contains the least. As a general rule of thumb, one ounce of milk chocolate per pound of body weight can be lethal for dogs and cats. (Milk chocolate contains approximately 44-66 mg of theobromine per ounce.)
This type of poisoning is uncommon because it is rare that a dog, even a small dog, will eat enough chocolate to cause anything more than an upset stomach. Yet it can happen, especially if the animal gets into baking chocolate or powdered cocoa, two forms of the sweet particularly loaded with theobromine.
Also, don't ever feed grapes or raisins to your dog.

DId you know that if you go to the SG Directory it is still in the old version? Apparently 4.0 hasn't sunk its claws into it yet.

I am loving my new nose piercing. I have been diligently soaking it in saltwater at least twice a day. I am a little worried though because I haven't been able to find any fragrance free antibacterial soap. I have been cleaning it with hydrogen peroxide until I can find some. It's doing just fine, but I am worried that it could be detrimental in the long run. Any suggestions?

So I am having a "Farewell to the Bay area and Cali" BBQ on July 2nd. I posted it in SGSF, SG Santa Cruz, and SGLA. It would be awesome to have lots of people show up. I'm gonna miss all my Cali friends! It's pretty much open to anyone. It's also a SG get together and people who are new or never been to an event can come and mingle and get to know people in the area. But you DO have to tell me if you are coming and what you are gonna bring.

Everyone should go help Doxie with the 2 pit pups she rescued. She would love some toys, treats and stuff to take care of these pups who were sorely, sorely mistreated and abused, She has created a wish list on Amazon specifically for the pups needs. Some things are only a few dollars so if you can help in any way that would be great. Or you can make a donation with PayPal (click on the Make a Donation button on that page).

Also, Neyrissa just dropped a bundle to save her pet rabbit, Finn. She is going to be selling some signed prints and such, and she will also have stuff up on eBay soon. Go help a girl out, k?
