Spring Break, let the hallelujahs ring forth. Not that I'm doing anything special, really; I just have more time to crack open some books and get ready for the second half of the semester. It does mean I get to dig more freely into my Netflix queue, which is nice. I enjoyed Miike's Audition[/] Monday night (not for the squeamish), and am eagerly anticipating Let the Right One In in a day or two. I love me a good vampire flick. I also watched, and highly enjoyed, Watchmen. I think it as excellent a transfer of the original work that you can squeeze into 3 hours, and with a better ending. Why people brought their kids to this I have no idea.
School goes well barring the last pathology exam, which has the whole class in a furor over the prof's mishandling. Won't bore you with the details; suffice to say only our week off cooled the rage. We're all settled into the routine now, and while the stress level is still high, we know what to expect. My blood pressure was bordering Stage 2 Hypertension after the first couple weeks, but some diet changes and exercise brought it back to normal surprisingly quickly.
The class is packed full of rather amazing people; I often wonder just how I ended up in their company. Most of them have lived or worked abroad in varying circumstances. My "experience abroad" comes down to beer runs to Canada in college. It's a damn good thing I can write -- my essays were quite good if I may say so (and it's my little blog, so I may).
What else...? Dinner tomorrow with my friend Jesse, a very sweet young lady I shared a class with while going through my prereqs. Nothing romantic, we just go out to dinner every couple months to keep in touch. Basic Life Support training Saturday morning. Shopping for and attempting to cook a little Thai dish (nue nam tok) in preparation for a food sharing exercise in my Nutrition class. I make good chili and the greatest chicken alfredo ever, but beyond those two examples my culinary skills fall off a cliff. Should be amusing.
Speaking of which, time to hit the books once more. Cheers,
