OK, we need to have a little talk about cell phones and driving
Unless you are a surgeon being prepped on your way to the operating room
HANG THE FUCK UP AND DRIVE!!!
Seriously, Ive had so many close calls lately, all involving some jackass on a cell phone.
Can we all just agree to address this one voluntarily? Pretty please? Otherwise the government will get involved, laws will be passed and politicians will think they have a reason to live. Lets just do the right thing, hang up the phones and not have to be warded over like children by the cock-suckers in our capitol buildings.
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
Anyway, still busy-busy but pretty good overall.
Though I got a bit of sad news last week: an old family friend passed on after a battle with esophageal cancer. She was a big kid with flaming red hair and an infectious laugh. We didnt have many chances to see or speak to each other in these last few years, but she was the kind of person who always kept tabs on you no matter how far away you were.
So yeah, one of those humbling moments of perspective...
Spent the weekend down in P.E.s neck of the woods, did fair amount of boozing and still managed to sneak in a little work here and there.
We caught The Brothers Grimm on Saturday afternoon... Awesome premise, but Poor, poor Terry Gilliam What happened to ya, man??? Now I didnt hate it, but the first half was damn near incoherent. It literally felt like there were whole scenes missing, and by the time it finally hit its stride well, the damage had been done.
Later on we downed some sushi and then had a lovely evening to ourselves Though I think we were busted by her sister and friends when they popped back in We were rather Grunty.
Ahem
Sunday we did the Disneyland and good fortune was again on our side as we were again given fastpasses to Space Mountain by random strangers. I dont know what it is. Maybe we just look like nice people which were really not. On the other hand it was Bats Day, thus the Goths were out in full force, making us look relatively approachable.
It also made the day all the more enjoyable as we got to eavesdrop on all the frightened moms and dads wondering what the hell was going on. P.E. overheard one disgusted lady saying something like, all these Orange County kids just use Disneyland as their personal hangout now
Oh, but as we were parking, these little shits in the next car over (a minivan, actually: a sure sign that youre likely dealing with someone at least two steps down on the evolutionary ladder) kept banging their door into the side of my car. THREE FUCKING TIMES! I attempted to blow off the first one, gave mullet-dad an evil stare the second, but finally had to shout stop hitting my fucking car on the third.
Again I ask, what is up with people these days??? Where is civility? Where is discipline?
I really wish I was more of shit-talking brawler type, cause I could have beat the living shit out of that mulleted, scrawny excuse for a father. I imagine theres some pleasure to be derived from knowing that because of you, a mans children will never look at him with any modicum of respect
Oh well Hes driving a minivan, so I guess thats punishment enough
Anyway, got back home in time to catch the first episode of Rome, which I gotta say was pretty damn good. I just hope it can sustain. Itd be so nice to actually have another good show on the tube for a while.
So yeah... that's life at moment.
Sorry I haven't had time to get around and say hi, but time is in short supply these days. The boss man is supposed to take off for a while in a couple weeks, so I'm hoping and praying that - that will give me a little time to breathe.
Hope y'all is well.
