So the boss-man is back in the office
But his trip was a success and we should have another project rolling in January. A little later than we originally anticipated, but hey we aint complainin.
But it was a surprisingly quiet holiday weekend, all and all.
Saturday we did something I think
There were rumblings of a barbeque to take place on Sunday, but it just ended up being a few guys sitting around, swilling beer and munching pizza while playing Risk. Big excitement, I know. But PERHAPSEVIL managed to entertain herself with my buddys pooch Buster, one of those French Bulldogs that look like Stitch.
There were a few more parties on Monday, but being that they were all some distance away, we opted out. I mean, whats the point of going to a 4th of July bash if you cant get shit-faced? Between having to worry about how to get home and the prospect of dealing with a hangover at work the next day, I just couldnt rally my festive monkey.
But we did get out to see War of the Worlds. I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. I was a bit skeptical going in, as when the film was originally announced it was going to be set in the novels original Victorian context. And though I would have loved to have seen that, I was surprised at how faithful this adaptation still managed to be. There were a few moments that felt a bit heavy-handed, attempting post 9-11 commentary, and of course there were the inevitable touches of Spielbergian cheese, but overall it was pretty visceral. Its certainly the most personal of the alien invasion flicks weve seen thus far, as it keeps the action localized rather than just cutting around to different landmarks being blown up. A damn fine choice if I do say so myself. And I hear theres also a lesser-known War of the Worlds film due out soon that does keep the story set in the late 1800s, so Im looking forward to seeing that one as well.
I know Im forgetting something
Oh well, gottta work

Tearing up the wings was the best part! I have a picture of me in the angel outfit before I got to tear into it, I'll see if I can post it. There were feathers everywhere!
