Is Christmas over yet???
I love the holiday and all, but dear God almighty I can’t stand the crowds! Where are all these people the other eleven months of the year??? And I’m not just talking about the malls. They’re everywhere you go; in the restaurants, on the freeways, at the movie theatres… and of course, in my beloved Disneyland!
We tried to go on Saturday, but the park was full – FULL!!! As in no one else was allowed in! I’ve never seen that happen!
To say that I explored new levels in misanthropy would be a gross understatement.
And what really pisses ya off is half of the park is taken up by strollers. Here’s the thing, parents: if the little ones are still in strollers, they don’t even know they’re in Disneyland. Save yourself some money; go buy some sparklers and take 'em to the park. Your drooling offspring will never know the difference.
Yes, I’m gonna be the asshole who says it: children shouldn’t be allowed in Disneyland!
Bwahahahahahaha!
Anyway, we ended up seeing The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe instead, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t read any of the books, (though I vaguely remember my sixth grade teacher reading it to us… Probably wouldn’t get away with that nowadays.) so I can’t say how faithful it was, but the kids gave solid performances, the special effects were impressive and I found it far more entertaining than any of the Harry Potter movies… though I must admit, I’m just about ready to send in for my membership to the Potter Backlash Society.
Oh, and I almost forgot (or more likely, am trying to forget): Out of sheer boredom we rented Fantastic 4… I'd heard it was mediocre, but DAMN! Did that ever suck! There were moments where I actually found myself wishing that I was watching Batman and Robin. The nicest thing that I can say about that movie is that it features Jessica Alba… not that she turned in a stellar performance, or anything…
I appreciate that ensembles are difficult to write for and the paradigm itself doesn’t easily lend itself to verisimilitude, but you’d think that after X-Men and Batman Begins they could have at least gleaned a few pointers.
And now we have a sequel to look forward to…
And finally, today marks the one year anniversary of me and PERHAPSEVIL’s first meeting. Can I get a collective “Ahhhhhhhhh….”?
Yeah, I didn’t think so…
But it’s been a good year, all and all. And I do know that I’m lucky. I drive most people off within minutes, so to find a real live girl who can put up with me for a whole year is pretty incredible to say the least.
So, if ya would, go tell her she’s a nifty person.
