yesterday was tiiiiiiight. okay, started the day with an iced tea and a spicy tuna pastry from panya, the best japanese bakery ever. the tuna pastry was delish. there was a slab of nori on top which i peeled off and ate in one fell swoop and then finished off the pastry in a few ravenous bites as i walked down 2nd ave. i headed towards the union square farmer's market and ran into lulu. i made her stop and wait while i bought a mango on a stick from a woman selling them on the street. delish. she peeled the mango and carved it with a sharp knife until it looked like a flower. then she stuck a big stick in the bottom. she had a number of condiments to choose from but i picked hot sauce. fucking off the hoooook!
it was too hard to pay full attention to my juicy mango while trying to navigate the crowds so we stopped in front of a group of mennenites, singing about god and passing out little booklets. i love amish folks. i wish there was an amish exchange so i could go live with the amish for a week. or maybe a month. anyway, the mango was tricky and i dropped a few choice morsels on my shoe. i am now the owner of white heels with mango stains. classy, very classy.
came home and made a feast. tofu stir-fried with jalepeno and onions, cayenne pepper. i made salsa with avocado and big handfuls of cilantro. i love cilantro. ate it all with a few corn tortillas. fuckin delish.
drank a beer. made some fried rice with tons of ginger. very greasy and groan-inducing, bad idea. i met W. at the panda bear show, drank a few vodka cranberries and remembered i stopped drinking vodka. ooops. on my way home i bought some congee in chinatown but was too tired to eat it when i got home. instead i watched happiness which is the best movie ever. fell asleep with dreams of trays and trays of mango pastries filling my head.

it's right in front of the juice chiller directly opposite the deli counter.
there are also peach, passionfruit, and other flavors... no pomegranate, though, sadly.
jason recommended mixing it with selzer.
i went and had a (spicy) tuna pastry today, after reading about yours.
yum! but next time i think you should try leaving the nori on--
it's a nice little snappy *crunch* with each bite...
