Time to update the journal. I'm sure that everyone is tired of "Ode to my Dog", but as an update Sinjin is currently fast asleep in front of the heater with his jowls all spread out on the bed. For those keeping track, I have exceeded my ability to commit to a journal for longer than three days.
Not looking forward to this coming week. I have a class of four guys for the whole week so I'll probably lose my voice somewhere around Weds. and not find it again until the weekend. My gf makes amazing tea concoctions to help my throat (even gives me 'to go' packs for at work), but it's still irritating. You'd think that after 5 years of training people I'd learn to stop doing this to my voice. Between that and smoking I'm sure to have a delightful voice, or learn sign language, by the time that I am 60.
Good news is that our foster dog, Cricket, may have found a home. I'm a little nervous cause this is the same woman that was considering taking her 3 months ago, but had to be put in the hospital for depression. I have concerns about what happens if this woman ends up in the hospital again, will Cricket be well taken care of? Cricket was severly abused before we got her, and it has taken months for her to recover. I'd hate to see her revert to the cringing puppy she was when we first took her in. Guess all we can do is hope that it works out and keep an eye out for problems.
We have a new little boy waiting for Cricket to move out. He was found in a storage unit tied to the bumper of a trailer with a three-foot rope. From the crop jobs on his ears and tail, coupled with the location it looks like he was going to be used for pit bait. I really hope that they can track the person who did this down and prosecute.
My gf and I always get the hard cases cause we can only have one foster dog at a time, and we take alot of time rehabbing the hard kids. The downside is that some times the hard kids actually have neurological issues that cause them to be aggressive or training that triggers aggression. This means that we've had three fosters that had to be put down in the last year, but we've had six that have gone on to happy homes.

Here's my plug for adoption...please don't buy dogs from backyard breeders, even if they are nice folks that only have puppies every once in a while. If you MUST have a puppy pay the money to get one from champion lines that are trying to improve the breed. Backyard breeders dont realize (or dont care about) the damage that they do to the breed since they aren't looking to breed out bad traits and highlight good ones. Labradors used to be intelligent before everybody had to have one. And if you can't afford to pay the cash, please adopt!
Edit: There are some good backyard breeders (I did make a gross generalization) I'm just a bit jaded....
