By August 1st I will have left Charlotte.
I'm movin' on.
Currently, there are two options. Option the first -- Atlanta.
Atlanta means less pay for a roughly equivalent work load. It also means a slightly higher cost of living and a step down in terms of my career advancement. On the positive side, I have tons of friends in Atlanta and there is significantly more to do there. I also have a lot more resources to avail myself of with respect to the label (which has been put on hold pending the move). Atlanta also offers a feeling of something permanent... of settling in. No longer would I be moving someplace with the expectation that I would just move again in 2-3 years.
Option the second -- Los Angeles.
Los Angeles means slightly less work but significantly more pay. More than double what I currently make, actually. I realize that costs of living in L.A. are much higher than Charlotte or Atlanta, but they aren't as high as Manhattan... and since I would be more than comfortable in Manhattan on this salary, I'm fairly certain that I'll be just fine in L.A. It also means a huge leap forward in terms of my career. The job that I'm being offerec is a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone at my level. We usually don't get these jobs until 7 or 8 years down the road. I've got a few friends in L.A., but on the whole I'd be completely starting all over again -- which is fine with me (as an Army brat, I've got plenty of experience with starting anew).... I just don't know if I want to pass up the opportunity to live with all of my closest friends. I'm also uncertain about moving so far away from my family, as they are such an important part of my life.
At any rate... this is my pre-ADD medication rambling. I'm going to take a pill and think some more.... until then, does anyone have thoughts on either place? Thanks.
