Damn. It's been over a week since I posted anything in my journal. It's been a good week, which unfortunately has ended badly with some $$$ issues. I suppose I should preface this by stating that I'm drunk right now. Anything (including spelling and grammar errors) in this journal entry should be accepted in that context.
I have noticed an annoying myth that has seemingly popped up recently (or at least, I have just noticed it recently. I will admit to being a bit dense about these things). This is the myth that nice guys will at some point end up with some nice girl and together will move off to some suburban never-never land and raise nice kids. Several women have commented recently that I am a 'nice' guy and have told me this myth as if it were gospel. I have been trying to figure out what about this has been bothering me, and I think I have figured out what it is.
I have come up with a theory I call the Cameron Effect (I will admit that I may have heard of this elsewhere, but I don't remember where, so I am unable to give proper credit.)
"Cameron's never been in love. At least no one's ever been in love with him. He's gonna marry the first girl he lays. And she's gonna treat him like shit because he's gonna kiss her ass for giving him what he's built-up in his mind as the end-all, be-all of human existance. She won't respect him because you can't respect someone who kisses your ass. It just doesn't work." --Ferris Beuler
I have seen on multiple occasions where some poor schmo goes off and does this exact same thing. Probably the only thing that saved me from such a fate is the fact that she didn't want to get married. I'm old enough now that I could avoid such a mistake, but I know that when I was 18 I could have easily fucked up my life in such a way. In conclusion, for all those women that have dated horrible assholes or guys that dated evil biatches, what makes the nice people such great judges of character that they can avoid all the mistakes that you have made?

I've always hated it, but that's probably because it always seems to be the way to qualify your relationship.
Nice Guy = "I really do like you, and would be happy if someone i knew and liked hooked up with you, but you're really not what I'm into."
