A tribal call echos in the dark recesses of my heart.
With hesitant breaths I search my soul for the cause of the outcry and find a primative man squating fireside next to me. He holds his spear defiantly upright and gazes ahead into the inky black of my thoughts. I can not run for at every turn he stands staring. I can not hide for his eyes see everywhere. So, I sit and stare back and wait.
His eyes flash in the firelight unblinking. His body, tattooes across his chest and face, is a tight, sinuous mass chisled from survival. His wavy strands of hair blow wild across his head in the gale force winds of my emotions.
We sit for hours locked in silent battle until he smiles, His purpose fulfilled, he grunts his approval, stands and walks away into the dark recesses I dare not look. Confused, I turn to leave this place and catch a glimpse of my reflection in a pool of childhood tears. Another tribal yell echoes in my skull as I look upon my face and chest now marked as his was.
