Thank you all for your advice re. my food poisoning (graciously imparted upon my colon by Mann's stir-fry carrots, broccoli and peas)! I called the manager at the Safeway I bought the package from and she took an incident report. While I await action on their part, I am also e-filing a report with the CDC and will call the local FDA tomorrow.
Also, there's some bad news about Selket's leg. Her plate got bent somehow and her leg is healed in an externally rotated position. To me and my friend it looked like it was already positioned that way in the soft cast when I brought her home. Her surgeon is on sabbatical but I talked to the substitute ortho vet who took the X-rays. I called one of the top veterinary orthopedic surgeons and he said that can result from overactivity (I kept hers restricted), a fracture that's too complex for the plate or a plate that's too small for the cat. We could do a revision or leave it alone. I am tending toward the latter, as Selket is able to leap and zoom around as before and doesn't appear to be in pain.
