Sometimes the smallest (relatively speaking) things make you feel the best. I have a huge soft spot for animals. Much greater than for humans (humans know better, but they still do evil things anyway). I only kill certain insects when they are inside and there is a danger they will bite/sting. Everything else is left alone. I feel horrible driving in the rain because of all of the earthworms that get squashed. Same thing for the poor frogs. I carefully watch when I drive and try to avoid hitting things I can see such as birds, squirrels, butterflies, etc. (yes, I know it's hard but I TRY). Well, I thought for sure I hit a dragonfly today. I checked for a spot on my bumper when I returned home, but didn't find it. But I heard a buzzing. I popped the hood and looked around and the lucky guy was caught in the air intake. There wasn't room for him to flap his wings, so he was stuck. I ran inside, grabbed a chopstick and put a piece of tape on the end. I poked it in the tube and he was smart enough to grab it. He hung on and I was able to pull him out unharmed. He was about 4" across and a beautiful emerald green with giant green eyes. He rested for a second and then flew away. I was so happy I actually laughed out loud. My luck with injured birds has not been very good ( 0 for 4) so it was nice to get a win finally.
