Back in California, flew in from NC yesterday afternoon. Last minute plane tickets meant lots of connecting flights. I've been on 6 planes in the past 5 days. Tiring, but worth it. I'm so glad my family helped me to get back for Papa's funeral. I'm glad I got to say goodbye. I was one of his pallbearers, along with my Dad. It was the first time in my entire life I've seen my Dad cry. I actually had to go outside and drop to the ground sobbing after I thanked my Papa for his life, and kissed his cheek for the last time at the viewing. That man was so amazingly good to me, I just can't express it properly to do it justice. My Dad gave the eulogy, and it was really quite perfect. Now I feel like it's my turn to be what Papa was to the world, and to try and carry on his life. Through his stories that I'll be repeating to anyone who'll listen, and helping others in need I'll keep his generosity going as best I can. Stopping to help someone change a tire, chasing down someone who dropped their wallet, giving blood at the Red Cross... these are the kinds of things I can do everyday. I know he'll be watching me too, so I'm hoping I can still make him proud.
