good heavens, i just had the best. trip. ever.
and i owe much of it to suicide girls. whoo!
so, my trip. friday = del mar racetrack. completely random + fun + new experience for me. i won on my first race because i predicted stormin jack would come in first place. he didn't let me down. del mar is gorgeous and i can see why people get addicted to betting.
saturday = shoping in carlsebad .. thank god because i needed a sweater. i wasn't thinking when i packed a giant suitcase of clothes and forgot how cool it is at night out there. vanilla coke at ruby's = heavenly.
i need to interject here that i have NEVER spent so much time in a car in my life. i was staying in fallbrook, which is next to camp pendleton aka nowhere. yuck.
hollywood is massively dirty. you know this. we explored the kodak theatre to kill time before bang! why isn't the hollywood sign lit up at night?! i'm such a tourist.
bang! was the best. much love + thanks to penelope for coming up to me and thus starting the evening. she is absolutely beautiful, yet you would never ever be able to pick her out based on what you've seen here. i also got to spend time with digdoug, who is SUCH a charmer. and so stylish. he completely had all of beat when it came to best look of the night. i have pictures + will share soon. well, nevermind, you've seen jeremy's. anyway, i loved bang. i only wish there was something like it around here.
sunday = disneyland. we didn't get there until 3 and didn't actually get going around the parks until 4. oops. what used to be in the land where california adventure is?? i really want to know. i have this special 2 dvd set (see, i'm such a lose) about the creation + building of disneyland and i've seen all these maps of orange county and how it's built up over the years and now i'm just dying to know what all that land used to be. someone inform a girl! anyway, my favorite ride over there was soarin over california (i think that's what it was called). and the muppets 3d adventure. i LOVED that.
we had really yummy gumbo in a sourdough bread bowl over in the french quarter area. unfortunately we didn't get to ride too many rides, but we got in my very favorite from childhoold, mr. toad's wild ride and the requisite space mountain and alice in wonderland because they don't have that in florida, which i've been too much more. and pirates of the caribbean is ALWAYS a necessity for me.
there were a lot of hasidic jews in disneyland.
sunday = san diego zoo and robin. i love gorillas. i got the workout of a lifetime. i think that's all i need to say about the zoo. oh, i assume there are space issues but i live in indianapolis and we have dolphis and whales, so you should too, san diego zoo.
after that we hung out in the gaslight (gaslamp?) district and then met robin for some quality hangout time. i swear, that girl is ALL that a girl should be. she is someone i want to be my best friend and simultaneously play with her hair. she is everything that my ideal female embodies - she is confident, informed, intelligent, witty, open and a wonderful hostess to two out-of-towners. we spent time looking through her family photos. how is that for quality time? i have pictures, which i will post at some point. /end of lovelust babbling.
ugh. i've written enough. i <3 so cal, bang! and you.

but did you see that the name of the joint for the SG Anniversay Party is called Union Jack's? Is that place still there on Broad Ripple Ave? I'm getting a little nostalgic.
