Sometimes I lie in bed at night, unable to sleep, fretting about the election. I don't understand how the swift boat ads could affect Kerry so negatively. I don't understand how Bush can in any way be connected to an attack on Kerry's war record (given his past). I don't understand why people trust Bush and believe he is a strong leader. I don't understand how Bush can say he was proud to have served in the National Guard. I don't understand why people think Bush would be a stronger leader under the threat of terrorism.
I also don't understand the effect of conventions. Here is a snippet of an article from the AP:
'The first of two national polls by Pew, done Sept. 8-10, reflected the president's post-convention bounce. Bush was ahead of Democrat John Kerry 54-39, among likely voters, a narrower group.
By the second poll, done Sept. 11-14, the Bush lead had evaporated. Among likely voters, Bush was at 47 percent and Kerry at 46 percent.'
I don't claim to understand too much about politics, but that really blows my mind. Support for Kerry can drop down to 39% because of a convention..?
I suppose it's because we all know, deep down, that Bush really has been endorsed by God to lead our country.

We can cry together. It is horrible that I cannot trust the American people to see the error of Bush's ways.
