When I was in high school, this band called wire train came into town. It was extremely rare that a band that I liked would roll into Indy and play somewhere besides the Vogue or the Patio. I had really wanted to see the Hoodoo Gurus some months earlier, but knew that there was no way I was gettin into the Vogue. Sometime, after the show, this cool, older punk rock chick showed me the inside roof of her vintage green chevy. She got them to sign it! I was jealous. She saw them play AND got to meet them. So anyway, I asked my friend Molly to go to see Wire Train with me. Of course, none of my friends had ever heard of them, but I gave Molly a tape to listen to hoping that she would like them or at least just go to the show with me cuz everyone knew that I had good taste in music and despite the fact that Molly had a boyfriend, she and I had been doing a lot of flirting lately and I thought that maybe something was happening between us. The show was at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument (weird huh?). The night of the show, we arrive downtown at 7 or 7:30 and all of the doors are locked. We wander around for awhile and finally find someone inside. The show had been cancelled, cuz apparently, I was the only one who had bought any tickets. A similar thing happened when I went to see Jason & the Scorchers 'cept they didn't cancel the show. 7 or 8 other people had shown up as well.
Hoosiers.
