so landed back in the CLT tonight after a great fucking weekend with the family. god, it felt good being back in PA.
this is the view from the front porch going across our yard.
tell me that isn't fucking relaxing. oh and a fair amount of time was spent lounging here:
friday, the whole family did house prep for the party that was to be all day saturday. it was a gorgeous fucking day.
saturday morning/afternoon we had a little birthday party for my niece and nephew which was kid-style fun.
then that night we turned it "adult," tapped the keg, busted out the booze, and grubbed like you wouldn't believe. i did some ribs with yellow sauce on a charcoal grill, my dad did to london broils stuffed with peppers and onions, and we both kept an eye on two turkeys that we deep fried. not to mention any kind of salad you want (broccoli to macaroni and back again) and baked corn that i love so fucking much.
people started dropping off one by one on the party that became an endurance race. by two AM it was my step mom, my sister and her boyfriend, my two cousins and their husbands, and i. keg long since kicked. dad's stash of guiness long since drank. and me working on polishing off a half gallon of bacardi on a solo mission. this was the men left around 2am:
by the end of it, it was my sister's boyfriend, my cousin, my other cousin's husband, and me at 4am.
this led up to the worst hangover i have had in ages. two days later i am still sluggish.
last night i caught the star wars flick. i just thought it brought everything together nicely.
getting on the plane tonight i couldn't help but think of that comedian ron white. he was on the blue collar tour with those other yokels.
"we had a little engine trouble on the flight. the nervous looking guy next to me asked me how far we could make it on one engine. i told him all the way to the scene of the crash. we should even beat the paramedics there by a half hour."
hope everybody else had a great memorial day weekend.
