I decided to get high and watch a horror movie tonight so I wanted to find something appropriate. I googled the term, "trippy horror movies" and this movie came up multiple times. I wanted something that would be visually stimulating and bizarre enough that it will be appreciated while in my state. Most of the reviews compared to the movie to 'Mandy' and 'Color Out of Space' or 'The Void.' All of which I have really enjoyed.
First thoughts:
That opening sequence alone, based off the dazzling Electronic score, the stunning "Kubrickian" visuals, and cryptic plot was so incredible I keep getting distracted by it and had to rewatch it multiple times.
I have no idea if I will ultimately like the film or not, but the first 15 minutes alone have been the most compelling filmmaking I've seen this year. I'm intrigued by this evil-Steve-Jobs-looking doctor has going on. I definitely can recommend this already. I have high hopes.
