Well, this morning I was woken up by a rattling/crashing noise and a lot of meowing. I tried to go back to sleep and ignore it but there was this constant meowing that wouldn't stop. I decided to check it out and found one of the neighborhood cats, a skinny grey, on my patio. She had attacked the screen on one of my windows and pulled it out (the rattling crash). She was hopping up and down from the railing to the ground meowing non-stop and definitely aggitated. I was gonna go out there and see what was wrong, thinking maybe she was upset because one of the other cats had found a way to get trapped under the big grey upside down trashcan on my patio. When I went near the door, she leapt at the glass splay-legged and skittered for a second before falling down.
Alllllright... angry kitty... So I called animal control. The animal control officer showed up and I went out to meet her. The crazy cat came over to say "hi" to me and didn't seem as eager to leap on me as before. That cat wanted nothing to do with the female control officer though, so I kind of helped pick her up and hand her off. I got a claw jab in the skin between thumb and forefinger for my efforts, but the control officer got the cat into one of the cages. She took down some information and checked to see if the neighbor upstairs owned the cat. I went to wash out my hand. While I was doing that, the control officer checked and it turns out the little grey kitty was a female and was in heat. She was probably climbing things because she was trying to get to the male cat who lives upstairs and who watched the whole thing from his window perch.
Anyway, it's been a weird morning. I'm going back to bed.
