I was mucking around with my new Alesis Micron that I got this summer. I was supposed to be experimenting with making some mono synth sounds, but then I found the "Oktoberfest!" patch. I spent the next hour making up and practicing a little ditty for Oktoberfest. 6 days too late, I'm afraid. But still.
Enjoy my cheesy kitsch!!
So as I was practicing, I hear a knock at the door. It's Saturday night, and I had it up pretty loud over my setup, so I figured it was the cops come to shut me down. Turned out it was this really cool guy who's a musician. We hung out (I kept him at the front door for about five minutes to get his vibe -- I've gotta be careful, what with a likely rapist roaming the streets of our town) and I gave him a bunch of music I thought he'd be interested in. He told me about this Austin band named Explosions in the Sky. Something to check out.
Anyway. There's much to write about, but I've had a day full of doing nothing behind me and a day full of shit to get done ahead of me.

I new about the Watership Down cartoon b/c I caught a glimpse of it on the DVD extras of Donnie Darko.
What's a tangram game? I'll see if I can track down the Careers game online. Do you think you'll take over the care facility for your parents or pursue a career more related to your current academic endeavors (I've forgotten what you study).
That's cool that you impressed a fellow musician into coming over and introducing himself. I'm glad he wasn't a transient psychopathic deviant rapist.
Thanks for the Ani songs. I enjoyed the Oktoberfest one too. The new Ani album and Corblund (www.corblund.com - I'm NOT a country music person but the lyrics are great and very Alberta-centric - yay for local talent) are definately at the top of my wish list right now. I buy cds like twice a year...
