I've got a fever. And the only prescription is, more cowbell!
Hee hee .
So. I'm workin, workin, workin! I decided to blow off the Hallmark flic that kept getting pushed back, and search for a new job. I didn't even get a chance to search when I got a call Monday. From the Hallmark channel! They're doing two movies at once (sort of), and one of their PA's was leaving for another show. Here I was, waiting for a show that keeps getting pushed, when the whole time, they had another ( slightly bigger) show that started Monday . They hired Sam as Key PA, and he hired me. So I started work Tuesday (day 2 of filming). I'm slightly lower on the totem pole this time . Instead of Set PA, I'm a PA/driver. I have to pick up one of our actresses, Melissa Gilbert, in the mornings and take her home at night. So I'm at the very bottom of the food chain, along with another guy, Adam, who drives our other actress. I get to drive around a badass Lincoln. During the days though, it's the same old same old. What's funny is, tomorrow, our Sam will be gone for the day, and he left me in charge . Just like last show. Only this time it's not as wierd, because the other PA's are just as green as I am. Although technically, Greg & Justin are "higher ranking" than me. But now I know all the AD stuff that I learned the last show and they don't .
Melissa Gilbert is the President of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG), and so she's got a "From the President" letter at the begining of the SAG magazine. So tomorrow, I'm going to cut the page out & tape it to the passenger window, but roll the window down. When she gts in, she'll probably want the window up. It'll be funny to see her reaction. Then I want to have her sign it, "To Doc, Thanks for the ride. Melissa Gilbert." That'll be an interesting souvenier. The woman who played Batgirl and did Little House on the Prarie. It's too funny. I'll have to post pics.
Well, in more news. December is a dry month in Hollywood. Nobody shoots in December, so most people scurry like squirrels throughout the year to hord enough acorns to last the cold hard winter. I, as you may or may not know, am a recent addition to the biz, and have not had the time to hord. But I landed myself a job as an EMT in Phoenix. So I'll crash at my parents house for the month, so that I can pay my bills.
I put together my set medic & military advisor resumes. After the hollidays, I'll register with Central Casting and Combat Casting as well. I'm a good actor, but I hate it. Not the side of camera I want to be on. But, it'll all be extra work anyway, which doesn't count as acting. It's just wandering around in the background. I'll do that for a few extra bucks. Especially military background. You get a special skills pay bump, and a bump if you bring your own uniform. Sweet.
Oh yeah, and one of our props guys, Chuck, wasn't in this morning, and our other props guy, Dana, was feeling sick, so he asked me to help him out. I was pseudo-Chuck all morning. It was cool as hell. Props is one of the most fun jobs on set. They're the guys with all the hookups from different companies for free stuff, plus, they get to play with the props. I told Dana to keep me in mind if he ever needs a pseudo-Chuck again. That's another racket I wouldn't mind getting in to.
Well, I'd best be on my way. I've get to get up early tomrrow to pick up Melissa, and get my first and last celebrity autograph. I'm not a big autograph & fan mail kind of guy. Stop by again tomorrow. Maybe that journal entry will actually be good...... Maybe.
