Back to work!
Dear god am I tired! I showed up on set yesterday to find that I was going to be in charge of background for the day, which kinda sucks because most extras are retards. But what was really wierd, was that they sort of put me in charge of the other 2 PAs, even though it was my first day there, and they'ds been there all week. Apparently Sam boomed it up like I was a kick ass PA with lots of expeience. This is a falacy. I've never done PA work before. I was 2nd assistant director once on a how that was so small that I did most of the PA work. The only PA we had on that show was an intern. So, anyway, I arrived yesterday, and found out that they only needed me for the day. Since they had high expectations of me, I just had to fake it.
The first shot of the day, some of the background tried to wander off, and they kept talking during the roll. So as soon as the first take was over, I rounded them up in the holding area and chewed their asses. For the rest of the day, I had them all locked down in holding. I spent most of my time pacing around them, and staring them down. I had them scared shitless. It was awesome. After they, they were politely asking permission to use the bathroom, and nobody made a peep when I called out that cameras were rolling. Punk ass background.
After they went home, I tore it up for the rest of the night. I helped our locations guy out a lot. And apparently the production supervisor and the 2nd assistant director were impressed with me, because they called me back for the rest of the show. We start filming again tomorrow. This is really good for Sam, because the producers and ADs think the world of him. If I'd showed up and sucked ass, it would have pretty bad on him for recommending me.
So, I guesse I have these guys convinced I know what I'm doing. I really don't, but I can fake it till I make it. It's still not the line of work I'm interested in though. Oh well, it's 125 bucks a day just to tell Parker Posse that she's needed on set. Easy money. Well, exept for the fact that it was a 16 hour day. I'm SOOOO friggin soar today. That 3 week vacation was a bad idea. I spent an hour in the sauna today and another hour in the hottub, and I'm still in pain. I need to buy some glutamin.
Well, leave it to me to turn a boring day into several boring paragraphs. I really must stop writing journal entries, if only for the sake of those of you nice enough to read them.
EDIT: I bought a cheap-ass digicam today. So there's a few pics. Caution, not for those of you with weak stomaches or heart conditions!!!
