So, I've now solved the majority of my problems in LA.
Car?... check.
(ok, not my actual car, but it's the exact same model... only mine's tan... and a '92, not a crappy '90)
Job?.... check.
(ok, I don't have a picture for this one)
I'm now a music teacher over at Bob's Rock School in Burbank. It's not full time, but it's a start anyway. Plus the guy is totally chill, and he said he'd be alright with me getting another teaching gig that pays more and keeping on as a part time employee. I guess their other teacher up and left on them just this morning, so when they checked their message machine and heard the message I left there earlier today, they decided it was fate and hired me on the spot. I've already taught 2 lessons over there!
It doesn't pay as well as I'd hoped for, but I under stand, as this school is targeting lower income students who have been cut out of music in the normal school systems - so they make the classes as affordable as possible which means less money to pay me. Although I'm totally fine with a pay cut if it means some poor kid gets to learn an instrument when they otherwise wouldn't.
So, I'm waiting to hear from a few other schools in the area about more teaching jobs that pay better. I'm certain I can get a job that pays at least $35 to $40 an hour. Which would be awesome, because then I could still have some time off in the day to work on my own music!
Anyway... LA is rad. I'm getting used to things. I'm getting settled. And with the aid of my TomTom, I'm exploring more things up here without fear of getting lost and stuck in some hellish part of the landscape.
So yay for me.
How are you?

very nice! That is wonderful you found a job! It really is something for this freakin' area. I am constantly exploring LA. I will just get off the freeway and see where the drive takes me. I do not really worry about it since when I first moved here I always seemed to need gas when I was passing Compton and my job at the time was all Mexicans who would take me to eat in south central. I never saw anything that scared me. Now I just feel like LA is a constant adventure!
