And before you ask, yes the flamingo cup and the straw make it 10x more fantastic.
4 parts Rum
4 parts Pineapple Juice
1 part Orange Juice
1 part Coconut Cream
Shake on ice, serve with a top of nutmeg
Besides drinking out of my Tiki mugs, these flamingo cups are the standard for all high class beverages in our household. Mmm, that nutmeg really puts it over the top.
However this is not all about my mixology skills. Two weeks ago Saturday, we lost my mother-in-law. Damn if she wasn't an amazing person. Got through a marriage that was in turns difficult to raise two awesome daughters. One of which made the questionable decision to marry me. =)
My wife managed to get back to see her just before she passed, like the night of. Which is almost exactly what happened with me and my Dad. I got a call from his best friend telling me to get home. Dad was in hospice at that point, and was just waiting to see me before he left. I got to talk to him and hold his hand, that night, after me, my cousin, and one of my dearest friends were goofing off to a playstation game or something of the like, he passed away, we got to see each other, and that was what we both needed. I miss the everloving shit out of that man, it's been some 15 years and I miss him all the time. My wife is just starting that path, and I feel for her, she's got so much loss right now, and I'm an ocean away.
I miss all of you, I don't blog that often, and you know that I'm horribly critical of myself and shy on top of that. But I *know* deep in my soul that I don't need to be around y'all. So I wanted to touch base, and just say hey. If I follow you, I think you're pretty awesome, if you follow me, you're really awesome ;) don't forget that.
I went walking yesterday, it's been a while since I did that, the pandemic screwed with my social anxiety, to the point that I had gotten even more skittish than usual about getting out and about, then winter, well wet, cold winter, that didn't make we want to go out walking either. But I took some pictures, and I think a few of them really turned out well.
I took a few with bird friends, but you've got to zoom in to see them, so I'll leave them out for now.
I want to take just a second to say how much I respect and think about just a few folks, @ojtheviking , you are an awesome human being, and a brother in spirit. @silentobjectorx Often have you in my thoughts, I have an inkling how hard the last few years have been, but you've always got an ear if you need it. And today @gnomi I wish I were Keanu enough to get your head pats in, I know you need them. Okay, I could go on, but you three get the damage =)
All the rest of you wonderful souls, hit me, up, I'm lonely today, even more so because I got to see some friends for a few hours, but then, as life is, they had to go. All the love I can muster!
