Well what's been happening good people?
Well I went to Edinburgh and had a fantastic time at the SGUK/SGS meet. Met some great new people, visited a couple of comic shops (shocking I know) and myself, rdpixie, mat8drb and Hermes formed what I am now referring to as TEAM AWESOME DANCE. We must have been on that dancefloor for 3 hours at least. Next time I have a decent chunk of holiday I'm hoping to head back up to Edinburgh for a few more days, get to see a little more of the city, and it is a beautiful city I loved the architecture.
I am now a fully qualifed First Aider. Work sent me on a four day course with St John's Ambulance. I actually really enjoyed it. I think I clicked with the mind set needed for it, you deal calmly with the worse problem first and work your way through them. It helped that the course instructors where a real laugh and told some filthy jokes, not really that surprising though, in that kind of job you need a strong sense of humor. My respect for what they have to deal with on a regular shift went through the roof. Having gotten these skills I do find myself wanting to do something with them, not just wait around in the hope that someone at work will injure themselves.
As you might guess from my new profile pic I finished watching Death Note and I REALLY enjoyed it. It's been a while since I've come across a story that's captured my imagination in such away. I love the whole cat and mouse aspect too it, seeing L and Light logically and careful try too trick each other. I also like the themes of what is good and evil and power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolute. Not to mention the shocking plot twists and just generally the character of L. I've always been a big fan of those Sherlock Holmes style characters. Calm, logical and slightly socially awkward.
Also I'm very happy that after 20 years or so since the series first appeared DC have finally released The Question: Zen & Violence.
It's a tpb of the first 6 issues of Dennis O'Neil classic series. It was through picking up old issues of this that I fell in love with the character. It made me the geek I am today . Please go and buy it from your local comic shop and then hopefully they'll release the rest of the 36 issues in this format.
Went to see Pitchshifter last night with my flatmate and rdpixie and her young man. I last saw Pitchshifter about 5 years ago, but they can still deliver, damn good gig. Going to Brighton tomorrow to see Munch's band, much fun shall be had no doubt.
Stay good people.
