So it looks like my sister-in-law is going to be getting a job at the state hospital where they filmed One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. She flew out to Oregon for the interview, said the place looks scarier now than it did in the movie. She got a full tour, saw the basketball courts and everything. And if she does get the job, she'll be leading the patients in group therapy, just like Nurse Ratched. My sister-in-law is a doctor, not a nurse, and hopefully she'll be nicer to the patients and let them watch TV when Chief swings the vote....
Closer to home, my jeans smell like cat pee and dryer sheets. I have no idea why. Really wanting to get home and change as quickly as possible...
UPDATE: The pants were successfully changed. Wondering if/why my cats are peeing in my closet.
Got into a shouting match with drunk Mexicans in front of my building after work. One of them spoke English, so my tirade of profanity wasn't lost of deaf ears....I really wouldn't mind them hanging out if they just cleaned up after themselves, but it gets aggravating with all we're trying to do for the neighborhood/community and then to see people treat it like crap.... Another store on my block is up for rent, which means it will be replaced by yet another payday loan store or Currency Exchange....it gets so sad to see....wondering if preserving (and expanding) the vibrant atmosphere of my neighborhood has is even possible...decided that I'm not going to give up, though.

almost.....
Philadelphia has the same problem, but sort of in reverse. Hipster neighborhoods take over neighborhoods that aren't the best. Prices sky-rocket, cool restaurants show up, but even though you live in a swanky house on a swanky block, you have a crackhead apartment building a block away. I always think its realy surreal. Its not really a melting pot, more like a kiddie plate with individualized sections.
