My favorite smells in the world:
1) A pot roast that's been in the slow cooker all day.
2) Shower steam as I wash four days worth of camp smoke out of my hair.
3) Fresh cut grass that I didn't have to cut.
It has been something like 7 years since I've had the chance to smell favorite smell #2. Last night's shower was wonderful, and sitting in front of the fire/wandering in the woods/talking with everybody (especially Finch) this weekend was absolutely perfect as well. I miss camping so hard. I should really do more of it.
All it really takes to make a perfect camping trip is a fire, some food, and a couple of people to share it with, and this weekend had all three in abundance.
Camping also had:
1) a beautiful, quiet piece of woods to wander through, right next to the campground property which I did briefly with each of Granny and TheFullNelson, but also did a lot of on my own.
2) a beautiful quiet field to sit in and watch the fireflies light up the tree line, which I happily watched for about 25 minutes each night.
3) a constant stream of clouds to block the stars, for which I shall never forgive the god of the sky.
4) four puppies which were absolutely adorable and make me wish boundcreature wasn't such a heartless, allergic bastard.

boundcreature and I wrote a haiku for seantastic as he paddled alongside our raft during the rafting trip. You can read it in his testimonials. TheFullNelson wrote one too. You can read it in his journal.
You should write a haiku for seantastic and post it in his testimonials.

Thanks to
Derceto, minimalism909, Fenchurch and everybody else who did so much to allow the rest of us to be generally oblivious to the incredible difficulties in getting 90 people in one place, fed, and generally without problems for four days.
Mylf and Pip for getting SGBoston there in one piece.
Maladjusted for being the best viking a raft of four guys who dance and a girl from New Jersey could ask for.
and, of course,
SillyGirl333 for loaning me a pair of sandals while my boots dried following The Great SG Boston Naval Battle.

me not dancing tonight provides another week for me to work on a totally fantastic "last night at manray" outfit. it also gives me more time to try and butter up DJ gumbercules to play le tigre and rock lobster. is he keen on bribery? could i offer him a free drink, a foot massage, a sparkley handcrafted belated wedding gift? (i'm thinking a frame made with popsicle stix and bedazzled in glitter, perhaps?) because i would do all that and more just to jam to "my my metrocard" on the dance floor just once.
dance up a stizzy storm for me and i expect notes on the evening in my mailbox tommmorow, stat!
