I heard someone say, the other day, that the key to happiness is interest - the ability to be interested in life or the state of being intensely interested at any given time. He said that it doesn't matter what one is interested in, because the source of the happiness is not external but, rather, our own capacity and willingness to pay attention to something, focus on something. It made sense to me because I tend to lose interest in things quickly, and I also tend to be somewhat manic-depressive: very happy and energetic when interested in something and then depressed and let-down when I lose interest. So, I'm thinking about how to keep up my interest level in general, how to generate interest or maintain interest. I've maintained a marriage for almost 15 years, so I've got the ability to make and keep a commitment. I just need to make a commitment to being interested in something, I guess. Right now, I'm interested in this website and this social network, and happy. Did the website do that, or did I?
